For some children, social skills develop easily, while others may really struggle with it. Social skills are the skills that help us navigate day to day interaction with peers.

Social skills include:

  • making conversation
  • maintaining conversation
  • using eye contact
  • friendship skills
  • understanding social cues.

A lot of people take these things for granted, being that they come for easy for them. However, when someone struggles with social skills, it can really have an impact on their life.

A great way to help build social skills is joining a social skills group. Social skills groups focus on all the skills mentioned above. It is a great resource to help children form and navigate peer relationships. In all, they build up social skills, which decreases social anxiety. Social skill groups give students the skills they need to feel confident and comfortable in social settings.
