As a parent or caregiver for a child with unique abilities, you’ve likely experienced some level of frustration when researching summer camp programs. Trying to find one that is inclusive of all abilities can seem like finding a needle in a haystack.
Research has shown that inclusive camps have significant academic and social benefits for all campers – those with disabilities and those without them. Studies have shown an increased rate of learning in inclusive settings. In addition, the social benefits of building friendships across ability lines are enormous. At Fick Educational Services, our passion is to provide a camp experience for children of all abilities within one camp.
Our dedicated, trained staff starts with the foundational philosophy that all of our campers can participate, make friends, and offer something to the camp experience. Where requested, our team can review IEP goals and work them into the camp activities. We keep the ratios of camper to staff low so that there can be plenty of individual attention given.
Don’t just take our word for it. Take a look at this testimony from one of our camp families:
My boys always enjoy their weeks at FES. As a mother I love that I can send both my sons (one on the spectrum and one not) and they are treated the same. It helps them learn about each other while learning about things they are interested in like computers, programming, and science! Great experience always!!!
